The New Moon in Aries is upon us! This is the first New Moon since the “astrological year” began - meaning since Aries started back in March. We can look forward to fresh energy as this annual New Moon is in a fire sign and gives us motivation and some new  perspectives. It will occur on April 11th at 22° Aries at 10:30 pm EDT, so please adjust for your time zone.

One of the nice things about this lunation is that it is with Venus, also in Aries, the planet of beauty and love. She’s spicy in Aries, so we may feel a little zesty and  flirtatious, which is not a bad thing. Venus is not alone, however - she is making a challenging aspect to Pluto, lord of the underworld and of transformation who is residing in the sign of Capricorn. So, this is a powerful set of circumstances - a lunation  is always a zap of energy, then conjunct Venus will give it a sexy flavor, especially with Pluto in the mix. Venus and Pluto can be any of juicy relationships, triangles, passion, deep experiences with other people or a creative breakthrough. It’s a hot time, so please use self awareness in dealing with others.

On the one hand, this is a great time to work creatively, initiate new projects, feel motivated towards your goals or do your spring cleaning. New Moons are also wonderful times to sit with oneself and decide what newness you wish to bring into your life. Where you would like to sweep out the old and clear the decks for new energy to come into your life? It’s great to journal, make that list of what you wish to bring in and light a candle - or a few candles - while you focus on your intention.

On the other hand, this lunation coupled with the challenging relationship to Pluto is going to remind us of last year during the complicated and unprecedented global events. The 22° Aries location in the zodiac is important for a number of reasons. One is that it is challenging the place where the initial Saturn Pluto conjunction occurred in January 2020, which was the initiation of the pandemic. Another reason is because it will also challenge the place where Jupiter met up with Pluto three times in 2020, the place where it was important to take the deep dive inward to find your own treasure. And then most importantly  - in the latter part of 2020, we had Mars retrograding, passing over the 22° Aries spot on three occasions in early August, early October and late December. The last passage occurring as the Jupiter Saturn conjunction was happening, one of the most important moments of last year, setting off a cycle that is continuing in 2021.

What does this mean for you? What were you doing at these three moments? Did you take action during these times? All three of these moments from last year will be triggered by this New Moon. Mars is a planet of action, initiation, direction and confidence. As this New Moon occurs, there will be 4 planets and the asteroid Chiron in Aries, all disposed of by Mars, which is now in Gemini, a sign of thought, articulation and a variety of stories. This is a highly energetic time in these next days, one filled with opportunities, breakthroughs and epiphanies. It’s best to connect with the memories of those moments from last year and understand the effects of the actions you may have taken back then and how they are affecting you now. Embrace what information and stories feel real for you in the innermost part of your being and stay true to yourself.
