WELCOME ECLIPSES!
Welcome to Eclipse Season, Astrodarlings!
Yes, it’s hard to believe that it’s been 5 months since the last set of eclipses. This time, we are firmly away from the Taurus/Scorpio axis and deeply in the Aries/Libra energies. The first eclipse is Monday, March 25th at 1 am CST and it is at 5° Libra. This is a Lunar Eclipse, meaning a Full Moon where the Sun is in Aries and the Moon is in Libra.
This is an eclipse near the South Node and therefore is an aspect where we are releasing old energies and perhaps old relationships. Libra is a sign of relationships, one to one arrangements where it could be anyone that we may be collaborating with or have that dynamic of “me and you.” Certainly it could be personal intimate relationships but also business partnerships. The Moon will make a very good supportive connection to Pluto in Aquarius, which is smooth, congenial and eases us into any transformation we may feel as a result of the eclipse. As for the rest of the planets, they are on the other side of the zodiac in this moment and the Moon looks as if it is a lone planet on one side of the sky. This gives the Moon all the power, as it is the “tail that wags the dog.” It reminds us that the relationships we have in our lives are important, but we need to have that balance between our needs and another’s needs. Realize where you may have been putting others before yourself in areas where this is not fulfilling or beneficial to the relationship. Libra, especially with the South Node there, can be polite, lovely, diplomatic and want to go out of the way to please others. Recognize your own needs and how you can balance them with those of the significant people in your life. If you don’t look at this, the eclipse will definitely make a point of showing you!
The second eclipse is on April 8th 12:20 pm CST and is positioned at 19° Aries. It is a total Solar Eclipse at the North Node, the direction of fulfillment. This is a fascinating place for a Solar Eclipse to occur, because this degree of the zodiac is the exaltation point of the Sun. So, the Moon will eclipse the Sun, which is at its strongest point in the zodiac. I expect that this will be a more intense energy that we will experience during those days. Aries is the sign of confidence, initiation, courage, leadership and being the warrior. This eclipse kicks out old, outworn attitudes and will give us a fresh sense of self empowerment. Not only this, but Chiron will be conjunct the eclipse, bringing a clearing to old wounds and healing our relationship with ourselves. I do believe this is a positive eclipse as the Moon will pass over Venus on its way to meet the Sun. Aries is usually energy that wants to blaze forward and push the obstacles out of its path. It’s a no nonsense sign that doesn’t see the point in wallowing in the past, let’s just keep moving.
Eclipses always bring emotions to the surface, anything looming in your life can potentially come to a head during the season. They assist us in reckoning with life matters that can no longer be ignored. Where are the Libra and Aries areas of your astrological chart? These are the places where the action will happen. It is likely that you need a reset or a release in these areas of your life.
And watch out for that eclipse corridor! The time between the two eclipses is not a time to initiate anything new. Despite an eclipse in Aries this is still the case, wait until the eclipses are over preferably April 9th or later to start new things. Mercury retrograde starts on April 1st, so we may feel like we need more time to process what the eclipses are showing us. Mercury retrograde is always about going back and reviewing, revising, realigning. As the eclipses bring new awareness to our lives, we may find ourselves shifting and changing during the Mercury retrograde cycle in April.
