MARS AND THE TWINS

It’s hard to believe that it’s already September and we have entered the last quarter of the year! The current astrology has a lot to tell us that will inform the next few months. Mars is in Gemini and will make its retrograde on October 30th until January 12th. This will be an extended stay in Gemini, which is Mars staying there until next March of 2023. This is an unusually long period for Mars to remain in one area of the zodiac. In this case, we each look to the Gemini area of our astrological chart to see where the activity takes place. Mars only does this backwards motion every two years, so this is important.

Mars is the planet of dynamic energy, confidence, courage, vitality. It’s also a planet of assertion and aggression and can be a warrior. We use Mars energy when we need to stand up for ourselves, when we want to push forward with a project, when we are competitive and when we want to be athletic. Gemini is a sign of intellect, communication, writing, reading, speaking, thought processes. It also represents neighborhoods, local travel, siblings and anything we use to communicate such as telephones. When we experience Mars in Gemini, we feel the urge to contact someone, perhaps the courage to speak up, the desire to learn and gain knowledge through information and reading,

Mars is now at what astrologers call “the shadow” - this is the area of Gemini that Mars will visit on its way to the retrograde, will retread while in retrograde and will pass over a third time after the retrograde is over on its way through Gemini again. There is important information in this time for us. We can look at events that transpire during these weeks ahead and we will understand what parts of our lives we are actually dealing with. What needs a three time review? Where do we need to tap into more confidence? Could we possibly reconnect with people from our past, whether colleagues, friends, neighbors and perhaps old flames?

Additionally, there is an unusual component to this retrograde. In the last few days, Mars visited the point in Gemini where it will make its direct station - where it will turn around in January and start moving forward again. This would be 8 degrees of Gemini and next year it will reach this point on January 1st and slow down to turn around on January 12th and stay there until January 24th. This is 3 weeks at one point. We have just experienced some things in the last days that highlighted an area of our lives and we will go deeper with this during that 3 week period in January. What have you noticed in the last few days, during the weekend? Was there anything in particular that caught your attention or required your energy? Did anything shift for you?

And of course, there’s always the cautions that come with Mars retrograde. Remember, it occurs October 30th to January 12th. It’s better to make any machinery or vehicle purchases before or after the retrograde. Starting brand new relationships is a not good idea either, they often don’t amount to anything. Most importantly, initiating any kind of war during a Mars retrograde is a war that will not be won by the initiator. That doesn’t only include an actual battle with weapons - it can be a lawsuit or arguments and fights with anyone.

Please mind your temper during this event, find useful ways of exerting your energy instead of getting angry. This energy can be used constructively by the “retrograde re’s” - revisit, reconnect, re-establish, remember, review. I expect this to be an interesting ride, so hang on and pay attention to details!

Many blessings,
Deb
