VIRGO SOLAR ECLIPSE: THE EDGE OF CHANGE

It’s time for the second eclipse, astrodarlings!
The second and final eclipse is here, a Solar Eclipse which is a New Moon in the sign of Virgo. The eclipse occurs today, September 21st at the very, very end of Virgo at 29°, before the Sun moves into Libra on September 22nd creating the Equinox.
Virgo is a practical, loyal, detail oriented earth sign. As we approach the end of Virgo season with a powerful Solar Eclipse, we're invited to reflect, realign, and prepare for fresh beginnings. Coupled with the opposition from Saturn in Pisces and the upcoming ingress of the Sun into Libra at the equinox, this celestial event marks a time of significant transition. Let’s dive into what this means for us and how to harness its energy for growth.
Solar Eclipses are like cosmic reset buttons—they illuminate areas where new opportunities or challenges may arise. As this eclipse occurs at the last degree of Virgo, it highlights themes of refinement, attention to detail, and the desire to perfect aspects of ourselves or our environment. While Virgo is an earth sign, grounded and practical, this eclipse nudges us to look beyond the mundane and consider what needs cleansing or restructuring in our lives.
Key themes during this eclipse:
Reevaluating routines and health habits
Releasing perfectionism and self-criticism
Focusing on service, organization, and daily rituals
Since it’s happening at the last moments of Virgo season, it’s a potent reminder that transformation often begins with small, consistent changes—think of it as polishing a precious gem until it shines anew.
The Opposing Force: Saturn in Pisces
Oppositions in astrology create tension but also drive growth. This eclipse is directly opposite Saturn, the planet of structure, discipline, and lessons, now residing in dreamy, intuitive Pisces. This positioning suggests a push-pull between practical boundaries and the desire to surrender to flow, imagination or spiritual realms.
This opposition is challenging us to balance tangible responsibilities with spiritual or emotional needs, encouraging us to release rigid control and trust our intuition. And it highlights the importance of integrating discipline with empathy and sensitivity.
Saturn’s presence in Pisces asks us to confront illusions or escapism, urging us to find grounding while honoring our inner visions. It’s about creating a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds. One important concept to keep in mind during this eclipse is Saturn’s quality of putting a shadow over everything - our mood, our plans and mostly our belief in ourselves. Saturn’s very nature is to be challenging and this is no exception, particularly when entangled with an eclipse. While we are always gaining new lessons with Saturn, this time Saturn is telling us to go deep in our trust and our faith of life’s processes, in ourselves and in something greater than ourselves. While we may feel Saturn as pressure or an energy that only rains on our parade, this means we aren’t taking the deep dive into the very essence of our own resistance. What do we REALLY fear? What is keeping us from believing in ourselves?
The eclipses depend upon the location of the Nodes of Destiny. The North Node is in Pisces asking us to deepen our faith, connect with our own divinity and how this will ultimately lead us to our truth. The way through this eclipse is to go inward. With the South Node in Virgo, this is considered a South Node eclipse and can pull us into the vortex of the past and what feels familiar and is not really in our best interests. If we lean heavily in this direction, we rely on too much practicality and not enough spirit. Inevitably when we lean too much in the direction of the South Node we get tossed back to the North Node. Again, trust is the key right now.
The Equinox Shift: Sun into Libra
The very next day, the Sun enters Libra, bringing us to the moment of the September equinox. This cosmic turning point emphasizes harmony, balance, and partnership. After the intense energy of the Virgo eclipse, Libra’s focus on relationships and fairness offers a chance to integrate lessons learned.
What to expect during this transition:
Seeking equilibrium between work and rest
Fostering harmony in personal and professional relationships
Reflecting on what fair exchanges look like in your life
The equinox reminds us that balance is an ongoing act—an art we continually refine as the seasons change.
How to Navigate This Cosmic Landscape
With these powerful energies converging, here are some practical tips to harness the moment:
Reflect and Release: Use the eclipse as an opportunity to identify what no longer serves you—whether outdated habits or limiting beliefs—and let them go.
Ground Your Intuition: With Saturn in Pisces opposing the eclipse, grounding practices like meditation, journaling, or spending time in nature can help clarify your inner guidance.
Create Balance: As the Sun moves into Libra, focus on fostering harmony in your relationships. Small acts of kindness and fairness can ripple outward in powerful ways.
Set Intentions: Use this energetic window to plant seeds for future growth—whether it’s a new health routine, a creative project, or a spiritual goal.
Embracing Change and Finding Balance
Change can be both exciting and challenging - as Solar Eclipses often are. They do mark a time of growth and once we cross that threshold, we don't go back to our past. Remember, the cosmos invites us to embrace transformation with an open heart. By acknowledging the tension between the meticulous Virgo energy and the dreamy Piscean influence, we learn to find harmony amidst chaos.
This is a time to trust the process, release what weighs us down, and step into a space of renewal. The subsequent entrance of the Sun into Libra reinforces the theme of balance—reminding us that growth often requires patience, grace, and self-compassion.
So astrodarlings, as the universe shades the skies with this potent eclipse, take some time to tune into your inner world. Reflect, realign and prepare to step into a season of harmony and rebirth. The stars are guiding us through a transformative chapter—are you ready to embrace it?
With much love and gratitude,
Deb
